Vacuum excavation is a contemporary excavation method that offers precision and security in complex excavations. If you're digging a small site to locate utilities and pipes, vacuum excavation is a safe method that causes minimal damage to the surrounding earth and underground utilities and cables.

Vacuum excavation involves soaking the earth with water, which loosens the soil and makes it possible to remove using a powerful suction vacuum. This wet soil can then be replaced or disposed of elsewhere. Vacuum excavation, also called no-dig excavation, is a safe and non-destructive option when precision is required.

We can assist with slashing and mowing services that reduce the risk of bushfires. These services are also available for clearing land for construction work. Regardless of a site’s size, we can effectively clear vegetation, ranging from small residential areas to large parks and rural areas.

Regular mowing and slashing encourage healthy vegetation growth, as well as offering protection from natural fires. It also improves the appearance of the site, minimising the presence of weeds and avoiding the spread of unwanted vegetation to surrounding properties. Having a grassy area slashed or mowed on a regular basis helps to create a great impression on those who use or visit the space.

Frequently Asked Questions

If you'd like to know more about our earthmoving services, read our most frequently asked questions below or get in touch to ask any other questions you may have.

  • Can I carry out earthmoving myself?

    • If you have qualified and experienced contractors who know how to safely handle earthmoving equipment, yes. We offer both wet and dry machinery hire of a range of earthmoving vehicles including excavators and other earthmoving equipment.
  • Can you transport and carry away dirt and debris?

    • Yes, as well as excavating your site we can carry away earth and other debris from your site to dispose of it in a responsible way if needed. This means minimal work for you!
  • Do I need a license to hire earthmoving equipment?

    • If you opt for dry hire, you will need a license to show that you know how to operate the equipment you're hiring.
    • However, we also offer wet hire services, which means that all of your earthmoving needs are taken care of by our experienced team. If you opt for wet hire, you will not need a license of any kind.
  • How far in advance should I book earthmoving equipment hire?

    • We get many bookings just a couple of days in advance of jobs, so it's always worth calling up and we'll do what we can to work around your schedule. However, if you have a particularly big or complex excavating job, you should call as soon as you know your schedule to guarantee our availability.
  • What happens if machinery break during excavation?

    • If something goes wrong and one of your machines breaks down during the excavation, we'll do what we can to repair the machine and have it back up and running as soon as possible.
    • We won't charge you for downtime while our machines aren't in use, and we don't hold our clients responsible for faults caused by natural wear.
  • What kind of earthmoving machinery do I need?

    • This really depends on your project, what site it's on, and what your timescale is. We have a huge range of earthmoving equipment that's suitable for small and large excavation projects as well as excavations in tight spaces and on difficult terrains.
    • If you want to know what type of machines we'd recommend for your needs, you can contact us directly and one of our earthmoving specialists will be happy to offer you advice and recommendations.
  • What is vacuum excavation?

    • Vacuum excavation is a construction process that uses suction to remove soil, rocks and other debris from a work site. The vacuum excavator consists of a powerful pump, a suction hose and a debris container.
    • The pump creates a strong vacuum that pulls the debris through the hose and into the container. Vacuum excavation is often used to dig trenches for utility lines, clear away tree roots, or remove asphalt from a road surface. It is a safe and efficient alternative to traditional methods such as shovelling or bulldozing.
    • In addition, vacuum excavation can be used in sensitive areas where it is important to avoid damage to underground utilities or plant life.
    • Check out more info about vacuum excavation or get in touch with us!
  • What does an excavator do?

    • Excavators are one of the most versatile and useful pieces of heavy machinery on a construction site. They can be used for a variety of tasks, including digging trenches, demolishing buildings, and lifting heavy objects.
    • Excavators typically have a long boom arm with a bucket or other attachment at the end. The operator sits in a cab at the base of the excavator and uses a series of levers to control the movement of the arm and bucket.
    • Excavators can be equipped with a variety of attachments, depending on the task at hand. For example, when excavating a trench, the excavator might be fitted with an auger or bucket. When demolishing a building, however, the excavator would likely be equipped with a hydraulic breaker or shear.
    • No matter what the task, an excavator can be an extremely useful piece of equipment.
  • How do excavators work?

    • Essentially, an excavator consists of two parts: a base unit, which contains the engine and tracks, and an upper unit, which consists of a cab and boom. The operator controls the excavator from the cab, using a series of levers to move the tracks and boom.
    • The tracks provide traction and stability, while the boom is used to scoop up or move heavy objects. Excavators are incredibly versatile machines, and they can be used for everything from digging trenches to clearing debris. With their powerful engines and long reach, they are an essential part of any construction project.
  • What is the difference between an excavator and a backhoe?

    • Excavators and backhoes are both heavy-duty construction machines that are used for digging trenches, holes, and other foundation work. However, there are some key differences between these two pieces of equipment.
    • Excavators typically have a longer boom arm and a bucket attached to the end of the arm. This gives them greater reach than backhoes and allows them to dig deeper trenches.
    • Backhoes, on the other hand, have a shorter boom but are equipped with a backhoe attachment that gives them extra power for digging and moving dirt. As a result, each type of machine has its own advantages and is best suited for specific tasks.
    • When choosing between an excavator and a backhoe, it is important to consider the scope of the project and the type of terrain that will be excavated.
  • What is the difference between a bulldozer and an excavator?

    • While they may look similar at first glance, these two machines actually serve very different purposes.
    • Bulldozers are designed for moving large amounts of earth or debris. They have a large, flat blade on the front that is used to push material around. Bulldozers are also equipped with sharp treads that allow them to get traction on loose or slippery surfaces.
    • In contrast, excavators are used for digging holes or trenches. They have a long arm with a bucket on the end that is used to scoop up dirt and rock. Excavators also have a cab where the operator sits, which allows for greater precision when operating the machine.
